If they could make a PR2 just a tad more serious with some less tropey characters it could be a really solid movie. Overall despite it's flaws i'd give PR1 a thumbs up, it was fun. Smacking that one guy using the boat like a baseball bat was stupid but awesome and the flashback of whats-her-name running from the kaiju down that alley was pretty intense. Both titles offer ominous undertones, but the. Overall though it was pretty fun, the jagers were badass and the design came out well and some scenes were great. There were a few stupid technical things too like how the jager was "analog" after the others got EM pulsed. They could have done a lot more, the two scientists were so cliche it hurt, everything with Ron Perlman's character was stupid and little goofy things like when they punch into that building and just barely tap the newton's cradle. special effects were good and wasn't too bogged down with lots of stuff. The reason for the shift is unknown but it not a cause for concern.
